The Archdiocese of Guwahati Youth Commission (AGYC) was established in 2003 as a beacon of hope and transformation for young Catholics across the region. Located at the Peace Center within the Archbishop's House premises, AGYC operates under the patronage of Archbishop John Moolachira.
With our motto “Youth for Peace and Progress,” we have been dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, and social development of youth through comprehensive programs including faith formation, leadership training, career guidance, and community service initiatives.

With 48 parishes across 4 zones and over 3,000 active youth members, AGYC continues to make a meaningful impact on communities throughout the Guwahati Archdiocese.

Archbishop of Guwahati
Chairman & Patron, AGYC
Archbishop John Moolachira was born on Dec.14, 1951 in Puthusserykadavu in the state of Kerala. He was ordained priest on Oct. 23, 1978, in the diocese of Tezpur.
Pope Benedict XVI appointed him bishop of Diphu on Feb. 14, 2007. His episcopal ordination was on April 15, 2007. Before becoming a prelate, Bishop Moolachira was doing his higher studies in Rome.
He was appointed coadjutor bishop of Guwahati in April 2011. On Jan 21, 2012, he succeeded Archbishop Thomas Menamparampil, SDB, after the pope had accepted his resignation.
